4 held in CM's relief fund scam in Karnataka

BENGALURU:  THE CID police have arrested four men, who were allegedly involved in the Chief Minister’s Medical Relief Fund scam. The four are said to have created fake medical bills to claim benefit from the relief fund.

The arrested are C M Nagaraja Shetty and Shankar, from Mandya, Amoghappa of Kalaburagi and M K Kiran of Tumakuru.

A senior CID officer said that the accused had managed to get recommendation letters from ministers and MLAs in the state to claim benefits of the scheme. They had created fake medical bills and discharge certificates.

The prime accused, Amoghappa, had approached some private hospitals in Kalaburagi to avail of benefits of the scheme and convinced the staff that they would get commission. He got fake medical bills from Chirayu Hospital, Vathsalya Hospital in Kalaburagi, and Yashodhara Hospital and Ashwini Hospital in Solapur. Then he gave fake documents to CM’s officials in the name of 20 persons of Kalaburagi, Yadgir and Bagalkot districts.
