BENGALURU: Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is likely to be invited to inaugurate the Dasara festivities in Mysuru. The festivities, which commence from October 1, will be a 11-day affair and not low-key like last year.
The festival dates and shortlisting of six names for the Dasara inauguration were discussed during a high-level meeting chaired by the CM on Thursday.
Dasara procession will be held on October 11 in accordance with the Hindu calendar as Vijayadashami falls on that day. Apart from Tendulkar, those shortlisted to inaugurate the Dasara festivities include litterateur S L Bhyrappa, Suttur mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamy, freedom fighter H S Doreswamy and poets K S Nissar Ahmed and Chennaveera Kanavi.
