BENGALURU: Congress floor leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a man who talks big but delivers nothing.
“Modi is a showman and his government is more of an advertisement-based government, where glib talk is the only component. Talking big is his only achievement while delivering on his promises is zero,” Kharge said in his address at the Independence Day celebrations at the KPCC office here on Monday. “Atrocities on Dalits and minorities are on the rise, promises on employment creation have fallen flat in the last two years. The Modi government is claiming credit for delivering power, which is being generated from the projects undertaken during the previous Congress regime,” Kharge said.
Recalling Modi’s promise to bring back black money stashed in Swiss banks and deposit `15 lakh into the accounts of each Indian, Kharge said sarcastically that Modi’s achievement could be acknowledged if anyone has received the amount.
‘Abolition of railway budget a setback’
Kharge opposed the Modi government’s move to abolish the tradition of presenting a separate Railway budget by merging it with the General Budget. “A separate budget for railways is needed. The Union government has to provide liberal funds for the development and expansion of railways. The abolition of Railway budget would be another setback for railways,” Kharge said.
