Megharikh submits report to DG and IGP

BENGALURU: City Police commissioner N S Megharikh has submitted a report on the programme organised by Amnesty International India that led to many protests in the city on August 13, to DG&IGP Om Prakash on Wednesday. Megharikh said that a report about the specific incident that took place on August 13 has been submitted to the DG&IGP. 

Sources in the DG&IGP’s office said, “The report was sought by the Union Home Ministry and the DG&IGP has forwarded it to them.”

On August 13, Amnesty International India had organised a programme titled ‘Broken families-journey for justice’ at The United Theological College. During the event, a few of the participants had allegedly chanted anti-Indian army slogans leading to protests. Taking it forward, ABVP filed a case against members of Amnesty International India. The Assistant Commissioner of Police of J C Nagar division, who is heading the probe, has taken the video footage of the event and have questioned the members of Amnesty International.
