ATHANI:A 22-year-old accident victim was dragged to the ward in a hospital by his friends as there were no wheelchairs and stretchers, in Athani on Sunday.

The incident came to light on Wednesday after the video was circulated on social media.
Rosh from a village in Athani taluk, was injured after the bike he was riding skidded. A few of his friends took him to the government hospital for treatment.

As they could not find a wheelchair or the stretcher in the emergency section, they took him to the ward by dragging him on the floor. A nurse on duty treated him and later other in-patient admission formalities were completed.

Doctors on duty were not present when Rosh was taken to the hospital in the evening.  Additional District Health Officer  Dr S B Munyal told Express that the department would conduct an inquiry into the matter and action will be initiated against erring staff.
