University of Mysore row continues: Acting V-C to file defamation case

There seems to be no end to the battle between University of Mysore (UoM) acting V-C Dayananda Mane and registrar Rajanna.

MYSURU: There seems to be no end to the battle between University of Mysore (UoM) acting V-C Dayananda Mane and registrar Rajanna.

The in-charge V-C has decided to file a defamation case against the registrar for allegedly making remarks against him over visits to girls' hostel.

Speaking to Express on Wednesday, Mane said: "I have consulted a legal cell to take action against Rajanna for tarnishing my image. I will be filing a defamation case and will drag him to the court."
He charged Rajanna with violating the roster method in appointment of 96 non-teaching staff in December.

"Rajanna was involved in corruption to the tune of `3 crore. I will file a case in ACB and let ACB punish the guilty. I have already brought the issue of illegal appointments to the notice of Governor Vajubhai Vala as well as Higher Education Minister Basavaraja Rayareddy," he added.

“The registrar should take permission from the V-C or the government before going to press. Rajanna's action has also brought a bad name to the university,” Mane added.Defending himself, Prof Rajanna said he has not done any illegal appointments.
