Chikkaballapur: A woman killed her sixteen-month old son by setting him on fire and later claimed she committed the crime when she was possessed by God.
The incident took place at Kesavara of Chikballapur taluk in Karnataka on Friday evening. Superintendent of police (Chikkaballapur) Karthik Reddy said that Nirmala (28), wife of a borewell mechanic, killed her son Vinay and informed the owner of the mechanic shop where the husband worked. The owner then informed the police.
Nirmala’s husband claimed that she had been possessed by God several times before too. The couple are devotees of Banshankari goddess and had married six years back.
