Two government medical colleges in Karnataka get MCI nod

Two state government-run medical colleges which were denied permission for renewal of affiliation for the academic year 2017-18 have finally got permission from the Medical Council of India (MCI).

BENGALURU: Two state government-run medical colleges which were denied permission for renewal of affiliation for the academic year 2017-18 have finally got permission from the Medical Council of India (MCI). MCI had declined to renew affiliation of Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences and Chamrajnagar Institute of Medical Sciences at the last executive committee meeting held on January 13.

However now, officials from the Department of Medical Education have received a communication from MCI saying the renewal of affiliation for the two colleges has been approved. “MCI had some queries during its visit for which we have submitted a compliance report. Considering the report, MCI has renewed the affiliation,” said Dr Sachidanand, Director, Medical Education Department.
