Preparatory exam in old pattern triggers confusion

The preparatory exam conducted by the Headmasters’ Association on Monday was based on the old pattern.

BENGALURU: Though the Karnataka State Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) has changed the SSLC exam pattern from this year, the preparatory exam conducted by the Headmasters’ Association on Monday was based on old pattern. This resulted in confusion among the students.

The same was questioned by the KSEEB and the director sought a report from the authorities concerned. Later, the department directed the association to hold fresh exams based on new pattern.

In December 2016, KSEEB issued a circular saying it has withdrawn the system of issuing question paper and answer booklets together. It introduced a new system, where question papers and answer booklets will be given separately to candidates appearing for  SSLC exams in 2017. However, both the question and answer papers were printed together for the preparatory exams.

A board official said, “The aim of conducting preparatory exams is not just to make students familiar with the content but also the pattern. Otherwise, what is the need of such exams.”
