BENGALURU: Now getting your property registered is as simple as applying for passport. The Department of Stamps and Registration has come out with an online portal that enables one to complete the process of property registration within 12 minutes at Sub-registrar offices. You can get a certified copy the same day. This service is expected to be rolled out next week.

All you have to do is log in to Karnataka Valuation and e-Registration (Kaveri), fill forms and upload required documents.  At the Sub-registrar office, each slot is given for 12 minutes.
“If documents are correct, they will be approved within 12 minutes.  Manually, it would take at least 45 minutes. With this system, we are not just saving people’s time, but also reducing the burden of our staff,”  said

Dr K V Thrilok Chandra, Inspector General of  Registration and Commissioner of Stamps.
In the coming days, many add-on services like encumbrance certificate (EC) will be included.

Soon, mobile service for updates

The Department of Stamps and Registration has come out with an online portal that enables one to complete the process of property registration within 12 minutes at Sub-registrar’s offices.
Dr K V Thrilok Chandra, Inspector General of Registration and Commissioner of Stamps,  said this was thought of as there were complaints about touts and corruption in Sub-registrar’s offices. The portal will be helpful in streamlining the process and bringing in transparency, he said.

Meanwhile, there are also plans to include mobile services. “At every stage, messages will be sent to the user mobile phone. Once they finish their pre-registration formalities, they will get the appointment number along with time and date. When they go to the Sub-registrar office,  they can show their application details on their mobile phone just like showing e-tickets at  multiplexes,’’ he added.
Registration of properties includes vacant site, flat, house, commercial  complexes, agriculture land, non agriculture land by seller/buyer and  also gift deeds.

All these years, one has to go to Sub-registrar office,  fill forms and avail service , all done manually.  On an average, every day,  4,500 registrations are done at various  sub-registrar’s offices. It takes around  45 minutes to complete the process .

There are 250 Sub-registrar offices across the State of which 48 alone are in Bengaluru Urban District. This apart, there are 34 District Registrar offices, including five in Bengaluru.

The department has also started company registration format in the Karnataka Valuation and  e-Registration (Kaveri)  portal. “Documents required for company registration should be uploaded,  the remaining procedure will be the same,’’ Trilok Chandra said.
