Qamarul laid to rest near parents’ graves

THE body of veteran leader Qamarul Islam was laid to rest at Qabristan-Roza-e-Qalandar Khan Dargah near his parents’ graves on Tuesday evening.

KALABURAGI: THE body of veteran leader Qamarul Islam was laid to rest at Qabristan-Roza-e-Qalandar Khan Dargah near his parents’ graves on Tuesday evening. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Congress floor leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal, KPCC president G Parameshwara and Minister Eshwar Khandre paid homage to the departed leader. The body was taken from KCT College Grounds at 5.45 pm in a procession to Qabristan-Roza-e- Qalandar Khan Dargah at 9.30 pm and buried.

“He was a great leader. Recently he was appointed AICC secretary and had an opportunity to serve at the national level. But unfortunately he passed away,” Siddaramaiah said. Kharge said North Karnataka has lost a great leader. He said that Qamarul strived hard for the welfare of Hyderabad Karnataka region. Kalaburagi District Minister Sharanaprakash Patil described Qamarul as a disciplined soldier of the Congress party.
