Govt open to amending KMC Act: Khandre
BENGALURU: Minister for municipalities, local bodies and public enterprises Eshwar B Khandre on Wednesday said the state government would consider amending the Karnataka Municipal and Panchayat Act if required after bringing all stakeholders on board shortly.
Khandre was responding to repeated requests by members of the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) during an interactive session on ‘Property tax issues’ organised by FKCCI on Wednesday.Members stressed upon the need for a common tax for all industries across the state regardless of the jurisdiction they fell into.
Khandre said: “I will hold a meeting with industry members and the local bodies in 10 days and try to work out a consensus on the issue. If required, we will amend the KMC Act and the Panchayat legislation.”
