CHIKBALLAPUR: A youth chopped off of a 35-year-old man’s forearm at Arkunda village in Manchenahalli police limits in Gowribidanur taluk on Thursday. According to sources, Ravikumar, a Congress worker, was moving in his jeep when Lokesh Kumar  (22) of the same village stopped him and attacked him with a machete, severing  his left forearm.

An injured Ravikumar was rushed to Chikballapur from where he was shifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru. The severed forearm was taken to the hospital in an ice pack. Police said Lokesh Kumar had been frustrated after his proposal to marry a minor was turned down by her uncle. He thought Ravikumar in whose house he was working was responsible for it.

Unconfirmed reports claimed that while Ravikumar was distributing sarees at the village to woo voters ahead of the assembly polls, Lokesh who belongs to JD(S) attacked him. But the police deny the version.
