BENGALURU:Parashuram Waghmare, the alleged shooter, and Ganesh Miskin, the suspected biker who took Waghmare to Gauri Lankesh’s house, allegedly escaped in another vehicle.

Sources in the SIT said that investigation pointed towards use of more than one vehicle in the commission of the offence. Earlier, it was believed that only the biker and the shooter had arrived at Gauri Lankesh’s house in Rajarajehwari Nagar, where she was shot dead on September 5 last year. “It is now revealed that Waghmare and Miskin, after accomplishing the job, went in a bike for some distance, where other team members were waiting for them in a car. They gave the bike to one of them and got into the car along with the weapon. This helped them avoid police who had surrounded the area within a few minutes after the murder,” an official said.

The SIT, which has arrested nine persons so far, are still on the lookout for other accused, including Nihal alias Dada, who allegedly played an important role in the murder conspiracy. Also, the country-made pistol and the bike used to commit the murder are yet to be found. SIT officials are confident that they can find the both with the arrest of Miskin and Amith Baddi.

“We have already arrested nine suspects and only a few are absconding. We are expecting to nab them soon and subsequently end the probe within 2-3 months,” an official added.
