Following death of Shiroor mutt seer IGP visits Mutt

Udupi SP Laxman Nimbargi on Tuesday said that no arrests have been made relating to the death of Shiroor mutt seer. 

UDUPI: Udupi SP Laxman Nimbargi on Tuesday said that no arrests have been made relating to the death of Shiroor mutt seer. Several TV channels earlier in the day reported that a woman, who was said to be a close associate of late seer and three others were arrested in Aladangady near  Belthangady in Dakshina Kannada district. It said the woman who wore burkha was escaping fearing arrest in the seer’s death case. However, SP Laxman Nimbargi  who spoke to Express said that the news is fake and without any base.

Inspector General of Police, Western Zone, Arun Chakravarthy who visited the city on Tuesday also clarified that no arrests have been made in the  Shiroor Seer’s death case. However,  police team which visited the Shiroor Mutt as part of the investigation on Tuesday reportedly found liquor bottles, condoms and sanitary pads at Shiroor Mutt, Udupi. But the police sources refused to divulge any details in this regard. Details of the investigation cannot be revealed  as of now. We are investigating the case from different angles, sources said.  Meanwhile, the missing DVR device that was installed at Shiroor Moola Mutt has not yet been found by the police. Efforts are on to trace the DVR device, police said.
