Karnataka couple bust myth, marry on eclipse night

CHITRADURGA: Dr Shivamurthy Murugha Sharana of Murugha mutt gave Linga Deeksha to children and arranged a marriage on the day of lunar eclipse. Maradi Ranganayaka of Hoovinahole village of Hiriyur taluk and Vasantha entered into a wedlock at the mutt and young couple started their new life breaking the superstitious belief that eclipse in inauspicious. 

The seer who led the programme said solar and lunar eclipses are just celestial events and occur naturally. However some people are trying to create “fear psychosis” among the public to run their livelihood and public should stop listening to them and think rationally, he urged. 

Citing his own example, the seer said he had been consuming food during eclipses and nothing has occurred to him till now. People should come out of the superstitious thinking, he said. 
Davangere Viiraktha Mutt head Basavaprabhu Swamy, Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishath district president Challakere Yerriswamy, secretary HST Swamy, historian Dr B Rajashekharappa, KM Veeresh, C M Veeranna, Gayatri Shivram and others were present on the occasion.
