Karnataka HC issues notice to JD(S) MLA over polling irregularities

The High Court on Friday issued a notice to JD(S) MLA H K Kumaraswamy from Sakaleshpur constituency after hearing an election petition filed by a follower of defeated BJP candidate.

BENGALURU: The High Court on Friday issued a notice to JD(S) MLA H K Kumaraswamy from Sakaleshpur constituency after hearing an election petition filed by a follower of defeated BJP candidate Somashekar Jayaraj. Justice S Sujatha ordered notice to Kumaraswamy before adjourning the hearing to August 31, 2018. The petitioner A V Naresh filed the petition on the grounds that there were irregularities in the counting process, resulting in the election of JD(S) candidate Kumaraswamy. Naresh prayed the court to cancel the election of Kumaraswamy and sought direction for recounting of votes in all 283 polling stations.
