Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Congress responsible for anger in North Karnataka: B S Yeddyurappa

BENGALURU: BJP State president and leader of opposition in the assembly B S Yeddyurappa on Saturday accused Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy of dividing the people and demanded the Congress to explain its stand on the CM’s divide-and-rule policy.

Yeddyurappa also made it clear that the party would not support the demand for a separate state.
Speaking to media persons after the party’s state core committee meeting in the city, the Yeddyurappa said people of North Karnataka are angry with the government and for the first time they have called for bandh in 16 districts in the region.

“CM Kumaraswamy and the Congress are responsible for unrest and anger among people in North Karnataka. The CM has insulted them by giving irresponsible statements and if he is serious about addressing their concerns, he should have apologised for his irresponsible comments,” he said.
CM Kumaraswamy had earlier stated that while voting, people in North Karnataka remembered their caste and money, and now, they want him to work for them.

Yeddyurappa said, “Kumarswamy is the CM for entire Karnataka and not just 37 assembly segments that elected JD (S) legislators and he must realise it. It is a conspiracy to divide the state for power. Please do not attempt such a misadventure as people of the state will never pardon you.”

The BJP leader said when he was the Chief Minister, he had made an attempt to do justice to all regions in the state and overall development of the state is the party’s aim.He appealed to the organisations that have called for the bandh not to talk about dividing the state. As an opposition party, the BJP will stand with the people of the region to ensure development, he said.

Drop restriction on media

The BJP leader urged the CM to drop any proposal to impose restriction on movement of media in Vidhana Soudha. “Kumaraswamy should not act in dictatorial manner. Why is he imposing restriction on media? Is he scared that all the scams will come out?” the former CM questioned. He also warned the government that if there is any restriction on media the BJP will protest against it. The State government is in the process of streamlining security system at Vidhana Soudha.
