THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State is all set for the counting of votes on Saturday, with the Election Commission making all necessary arrangements for it. For the smooth conduct of counting, 44 observers have been deputed and micro-observers will assist them if necessary, said Chief Electoral Officer Nalini Netto.

She told reporters here that there would be 35 counting centres and the counting would be done based on the Assembly constituencies. The final results of the 20 Lok Sabha constituencies were expected to come out by 2 p.m.

For each counting table there would be two officials and one supporting staff.

Apart from the main counting agent, one more representative of each candidate would be allowed inside the counting hall, Nalini Netto said.

The process would begin with the counting of postal ballots.

Specific instructions have been given that without completing the counting of postal ballots, the counting of votes from EVMs should not be started, she said.

In all the counting centres, a media centre has been set up where the results of all the constituencies would be available.

A control room also has been set up at the Election Commission office where the media can get the results of all constituencies.

Special information centre has also been set up in each district collectorates, the CEC added.
