KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode city is all set to welcome artists and performers from across the country for a cultural exchange programme, `Youth Fiesta-09,’ being organised by the State Youth Welfare Board, on May 25. The reception committee office for the programme was inaugurated here on Friday by Forest Minister Benoy Viswam.
A national integration camp and folklore camp will be conducted as part of the six-day programme.
With the aim of spreading the history and importance of the folk art forms of the state, folk artistes from different parts will perform during the programme.
Angathil Ajayakumar, a member of the Youth Welfare Board, said that art forms, including theyyam, would be demonstrated for the visitors.
Besides, teams from other states also will perform for the people here. Field trips to two panchayats _ Chakkittapara and Kadalundi have also been planned as part of the programme. This will help the guests to familiarise themselves with the lifestyle, natural beauty and means of life in the region.
