ALAPPUZHA: The Alappuzha district administration in association with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) is all set to introduce the Revenue Recovery online system (RR online system). RR online system is a Government 2 Government (G2G) e-governance service from the District Collector for online submission of revenue recovery forms from requisition departments like nationalised banks, Sales Tax Department, Excise Department, KSEB and BSNL under the Revenue Recovery Act.

It is the responsibility of the District Collector concerned to help the government institutions in collecting the arrears from the public. At present, the requisition authorities are submitting their revenue recovery forms to the District Collector by post. After receiving the forms, the Collector will hand it over to the taluk office which will in turn hand over it over to the village office concerned by post for further proceedings.

It is a time-consuming process and the requisition authorities have no means to know the status of their cases after submitting the revenue recovery forms to the District Collector.

As per the RR online system, the District Collector will give a password and username to every requisition authority which has broadband Internet connection. After receiving the password and username, the requisition authorities can access the site http://164.100.150.106/ rronline and they can verify the details of the pending case lists, status of each case and the amount of arrears collected by the Revenue Department.

The idea was put forward by District Collector P Venugopal and the NIC will give all technical support for the initiative. According to the authorities, the new system will help to avoid unnecessary delay in file processing and postal dealings.

The software for the project was developed by the NIC using free and open source software.

As part of the project, the district administration has facilitated all the procedures to give computers and internet connection to taluk and village offices.
