PATHANAMTHITTA:  Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that the Hindu culture and traditions are unparalleled in encompassing people of all faiths in the world.

Inaugurating the valedictory function of the centenary celebrations of the Ayroor-Cherukolppuzha Hindumatha Parishad at Ayoor near Kozhenchery on Sunday,  Oommen Chandy said that  Indian culture had the unique ability to accommodate people belonging to various religions and culture reflecting its liberal outlook.

 The Chief Minister said that such a culture and tradition that accommodates and involve all is difficult to find in any other place.

Chandy said all religions preach the welfare and virtues of people.  Complimenting the Ayroor Hindumatha Parishad for its role in the reformation in Hindu society,  Oommen Chandy assured providing assistance to set up permanent facilities for the smooth conduct of the annual convention.

The Chief Minister highlighted the need for the protection and preservation of  Pampa river.

 Chandy said that the State Government had submitted a comprehensive project to the Central Government for the protection of six rivers including Pampa, Achenkovil,  Manimala, Meenachil and Muvattupuzha, which culminate in Vembanadu lake. The Chief Minister sought the support of adviser to the Prime Minister T K A Nair for Central clearance. Ommen Chandy presented a memento to  Hindumatha Mahamandalam president TN Upendranatha Kurup for his contributions for the conduct of the parishad.

The Chief Minister also presented the annual Vidyadhiraja Puraskaram to Hindu Aikyavedi general secretary Kummanam Rajasekharan. TKA Nair presided over the function.

Jagatguru Sivacharyaswami delivered  the valedictory message. Thirumala Devaswom president Vappiraj, MP, delivered the keynote address. Swami Poornamritanandapuri led the Sarvaiswarya pooja held in the evening. The Travancore Development Society chairman delivered the introductory address.
