The developmental works in Kollam Port are progressing with the aim of commencing container vessel operations from January next year, Ports Minister K Babu has said. He was speaking on the occasion of commissioning the container forklift at the Kollam Port on Sunday.
Rejecting apprehensions that the funds allotted by the government for the development of the port will lapse, he said that following the setting up of a forklift worth nearly Rs 3 crore, procedures are in final stages to purchase a Rs 12-crore worth container crane.
