Reprobe sought into violence

A group of victims of the political violence  that took place in the district more than a decade ago involving both the CPM and the Congress has demanded a re-investigation into the violent incidents. They came up with the demand in the light of the disclosure made by Prasanth Babu, former Kannur block secretary and driver of K Sudhakaran MP.

Among those who turned up to address a press conference here on Monday with the demand were V Prasanthan, a victim of the attack on the Kannur Cooperative Press, C Vinod of Chovva Cooperative Bank, A M Bhargavi, wife of  K Nanu who was killed in the bomb attack on the Savory Hotel at Yogasala Road and P K Arun, son of the late CPM leader T K Balan.

They alleged that proper investigations were not held into the attacks on the Cooperative Press and Savory Hotel, and the bomb throwing incident in which P K Arun lost his eyes. The conspiracy behind the incidents was not probed following political pressure on the investigating police officials.
