The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday submitted that further investigation has to be carried out to confirm whether more conspirators are involved with CPM Thiruvangad local committee secretary Karayi Chandrasekharan and Kannur district secretariat member Karayi Rajan in the Fasal murder case.
Considering the CBI’s plea, the custody of Karayis have been extended till Friday. “Since it’s a political murder case possibilities of more conspirators exist. The two leaders are yet to disclose more facts regarding the involvement of two others and other conspirators in the crime.
So custody of the two CPM leaders should be extended for one more day,” the CBI said. According to the CBI, the two leaders were highly influential politicians involved in many criminal cases.
They said that two more unidentified persons were involved in the case and they have not recovered a motorcycle used for committing the murder. Magistrate P Sasidharan posted the case to Monday.
The accused - M K Sunil Kumar alias Kodi Suni, who is also involved in the murder of RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan, Biju alias Pachutty Biju of Thiruvangad, Jithish alias Jithu of Kodiyeri, Arundas alias Cheriya Aruttan of Thiruvangad, M K Kalesh alias Babu of Ukkandanpeedika, T M Arun Kumar alias Aruttan of Muzhuppilangad, Karayi Chandrasekharan and Karayi Rajan were produced before the court on Thursday.
The two CPM leaders were remanded in CBI custody for four days on Monday. Accordingly the accused were taken into custody and interrogated.
During the custody the accused were fed well and medical care was provided, the CBI said. The CBI also submitted the case diary regarding the last four day’s investigation.
Meanwhile, when the magistrate asked Karayis whether they have any problem regarding the CBI custody, the duo told that they have no complaint about the interrogation.
Counsel for the accused, Gilbert Correya strongly opposed the request for further custody and said that the two leaders were not involved in any other crime.
