JCSSO to resist pension move

Lashing out against Finance Minister K M Mani’s statement that a Contributory Pension scheme was under the consideration of the government, the Joint Council of State Service Organisations (JCSSO) on Friday said that they would resist the move at all cost.

“The move to implement the contributory pension scheme by scrapping the statutory pension scheme was a challenge faced by the government employees and the teachers. We will resist any move in this regard,” JCSSO general secretary C R Jose Prakash said.

Once the contributory pension scheme is implemented, the employees would be deprived of the benefits of salary revision, welfare schemes and health benefits that are now covered under the statutory pension scheme.

Prakash also alleged that the pension fund would be handled by private insurance companies that would not be good for the employees.
