A civil police officer attached to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau unit, Kollam, who had injured himself, succumbed to injuries at the Medical College Hospital here on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Omanakuttan,49, a native of Kollam.
He was admitted to an eye hospital in Kesavadasapuram on June 23 and injured himself using broken glass pieces on June 26, following which he was admitted to the Medical College Hospital.
Police said that Omanakuttan was a drunkard and he might have became violent as he was not able to consume alcohol.
The body has been kept in the mortuary.
