Lavalin: More time sought to execute warrant

The CBI has sought more time to execute the warrant against Klaus Triendl of the Canadian firm SNC-Lavalin in the SNC-Lavalin corruption case involving CPM state secretary Pinarayai Vijayan.  The CBI consul informed the CBI court here on Tuesday that the Home Ministry had initiated steps through the Indian High Commission in Ottawa and the Department of Justice in Canada to serve the warrant on Triendl, who was the former vice-president of SNC-Lavalin.  Though Pinarayi was expected to appear before the court, he was represented by his lawyer.

The CBI court also gave time to the CBI to inform its stand on two private petitions seeking further investigation into the Lavalin case.   The lawyers for the accused told the court that the CBI was causing inconvenience to the accused by delaying the case.

But the CBI informed  that there was no deliberate delay on their part.

The case is posted to August 10.
