Denying any role in the murder of RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan, CPM district secretariat member P Mohanan submitted an affidavit at the Vadakara Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Wednesday.

He also informed the court through the affidavit that he had not made any confessional statement before the Special Investigation Team.

Accusing the probe team of torturing him in the custody, he said the investigating officials had threatened him that he would not see the world again if he did not co-operate with the investigation.

In his affidavit, Mohanan also accused SIT of threatening him that his wife and CPM MLA K K Lathika would also be made arraigned as an accused in the case. Mohanan also stated that the reports appearing in media regarding his involvement in the conspiracy to eliminate T P Chandrasekharan were not factual.

Meanwhile, Vadakara Judicial First Class Magistrate M Shohaib remanded Mohanan in judicial custody for two days, whose 12 days police custody ended on Wednesday. The Vadakara Court also remanded CPM Onchiyam Area Committee Secretary C H Asokan, Area Committee Member K K Krishnan, Lambu Pradeep, Padayankandi Raveendran, Annan alias Sijith and Vayapadachi Rafeeq in judicial custody, whose custody also ended on Wednesday.

The Vadakara Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Wednesday issued a production warrant to the superintendent of the Ernakulam district jail to produce CPM Kannur District Secreteriat Member Karayi Rajan, before the court on Thursday, who is in judicial custody at the jail in the Fasal murder case.
