The Kozhikode Rural Police have launched a probe into the leakage of phone call details of DySP Jossy Cherian, a member of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the murder of RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan. Sources said Rural SP T K Rajmohan is carrying out the probe.

The investigation was initiated on the basis of a report appeared in the CPM mouthpiece on Tuesday that the senior police official misused his official mobile phone by talking to various mediapersons for more than 3,000 times since the murder of Chandrasekharan. The report also carried the phone numbers of certain mediapersons and the number of phone calls made per day.

The police have taken the leakage of phone details of the officer, who is a member of the SIT probing a politically-sensitive case, seriously. Sources said that the police are inquiring whether the report appeared in the newspaper is correct.
