A woman was stabbed to death while she was asleep allegedly by her son at Chakkarakkal here late on Tuesday night.
Adiyappurath Sainaba, 65, of Shabir Manzil, was killed by her son Sherief, 30, an MBA student, according to the police. Sainaba and Sherief were alone in the house when the incident took place. Sherief slit his mother’s throat with a knife and informed those who were sleeping at a mosque near the house.
Sainaba died on the spot. Her body was taken to the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
Sherief, who is studying in Bangalore, was arrested by the police. He is mentally unstable, according to his relatives.
