Three youths injured in clash

Three youths, including a student of Christian College, Chengannur, were hacked on Monday.

The clash broke out between the ABVP and the Campus Front of India activists in front of the college.

 The injured are ABVP Chengannur regional karyavahak Vishal, 20, third-year Physics student Vishnuprasad, 20, and Sreejith, 20, of Pandalam, who had reportedly come to the campus for his relative’s admission.

 Chengannur Circle Inspector R Jose said that the three youths were hacked by Campus Front activists.

“Vishnuprasad and Sreejith were admitted to a private hospital at Chengannur. Vishal, who suffered serious injuries, was admitted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital. They are out of danger now. The classes for the first-year degree students commenced on Monday. The scuffle broke out when the ABVP, SFI and Campus Front activists were receiving the first year students,” he said.

 The Chengannur police have registered cases against nine Campus Front of India activists in this regard.

 According to the college authorities, the clash occurred outside the campus. A holiday has been declared for the college on Tuesday.
