US Consul General visits Calicut Varsity

American Consul General Jennifer A McIntyre and Calicut University Vice-Chancellor M Abdul Salam had a discussion on Monday about the academic cooperation between United States and Calicut University. Jennifer explained different projects of the American government for improving the quality of university education.

   The visit was made as part of the Obama-Manmohan Pact for mutual sharing in the field of education. The Consul General and team had explained how the university can afford cooperation in the fields of subjects like Nano-Technology, Botany, Journalism, Women Studies etc. Jennifer has urged more applicants for the Fulbright Scholarship. She also offered cooperation for international seminars which will be conducted by the Women Studies Department.

Obama-Manmohan agreement allows exchange programmes for teachers and students, library facility, higher studies, scholarship etc. Pro Vice-Chancellor K Raveendranath, Registrar M V Joseph, Examination Controller C D Sebastian and different department heads participated in the discussion.
