Kalabhabhishekam held at Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa Temple

Kalabhabhishekam was conducted at the Lord Ayyappa Temple on the third day of the monthly pooja for the Malayalam month of Karkidakom on Wednesday.

As part of the ritual,  kalabhakalasa pooja was conducted by Thantri Kandararu Maheswararu in the presence of Melsanthi G Balamurali at the ‘nalambalam’ at 11.30 a m.

Before kalabhakalasabhishekam, which was performed on the idol of Lord Ayyappa during uchcha pooja, the procession carrying the kalabhakalsam led by Thantri Maheswararu, Melsanthi Balamurali and Sabarimala Devaswom executive officer Sanakaranarayana Pillai was taken out circumambulating the sreekovil.

Sahasrakalasam was the other special ritual conducted at the temple.

Udayasthamana pooja, pushpabhishekam and padi pooja were held.

The temple will be closed on July 20 evening, marking the conclusion of the five-day monthly poojas.

Sankaranarayana Pillai said that the hill shrine would be reopened on August 5 evening for Niraputhari festival, marking the beginning of the harvest season, slated to be held on August 6.

Sahasrakalasam and kalabhabhishekam are the special rituals that will be conducted.
