CAT quashes employee’s dismissal

The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has scrapped an earlier order by the Accountant General dismissing a staffer of the AG’s office here in connection with the agitation organised by the staff union against outsourcing work related to the ‘One Rank One Pension’ scheme.

S Anil, senior accountant (Accounts and Entitlements), was dismissed on November 6, 2008, on charges of destroying a closed-circuit camera which was installed following the agitation.

In the July 13 order, Justice P R Raman and Justice George Joseph of the CAT ordered that Anil should be reinstated within three months. Anil was dismissed following an inquiry, but the department inquiry was not able to prove that Anil destroyed the camera, the CAT found.

The Audit and Accounts Association of the AG’s Office here had launched a massive agitation in 2007 alleging that the AG (Accounts and Entitlements) had outsourced work related to the ‘One Rank One Pension’ scheme to a private agency.
