An ‘Eranadan joke’ has turned costly for CPM leader and former minister T K Hamsa with the CPM central committee directing the state committee to take action against him for his lurid comments about senior party leader V S Achuthanandan.

The impromptu speech made by Hamsa at Valanchery in the district on May 22 landed him in deep trouble, though party secretary Pinarayi Vijayan had not taken his comments about VS seriously.

Hamsa had said that the veteran leader back-stabbed the CPM whenever the party was in trouble.

V S had come down heavily on Hamsa over his sarcastic remarks about him.

The CPM state secretary himself joined the fray by giving his own definition on the comments made by Hamsa, his staunch supporter.

Pinarayi had described the comment as a joke prevailing in the Eranadan area of Malappuram.

“I haven’t got any official intimation about any kind of disciplinary action being taken against me. I do not want to make more comments in public on the issue. I have already admitted that it was a mistake from my part and I repeat it. I will give an explanation to the leadership and I believe the issue will be solved inside the party itself,” Hamsa told ‘Express’.
