The new power tariff will be announced on Thursday.
The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission held a final round of discussion on Wednesday evening and approved the tariff, which will be the first comprehensive revision in 10 years. Sources said that the large section of domestic consumers will not be hit hard by the revision.
Consumers who use electricity moderately will not be affected. The hike is targeted at unreasonable consumption, the sources said.
The KSEB had submitted the tariff petition on March 30, saying it was required for the Board to climb out of the deep financial crisis.
The revenue gap of the KSEB was put at `1,889.15 crore for the 2012-2013 financial year.
