Harassment case: CI’s bail revoked

The Thrissur District Court on Monday annulled the bail of Subramanian, the senior police officer of the Rapid Rescue Response Force Unit in Malappuram, who allegedly attempted to molest a woman in a bus.

District Principal Sessions judge K P Jyothindranath revoked the bail of the cop, who was accused in the case under section 377 of the IPC, and flayed the Wadakkanchery Munsiff Court for granting bail to the accused.

While observing that if the accused was granted bail, it would convey a wrong message to society, the court said that those who were entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the public should not becomes violators of law.

T T Subrahmanian, 38, of Theeyadipadi Veedu, Deshamangalam, who is a CI with the Rapid Rescue Response Force, was arrested by the Wadakkancherry police on July 18 after being caught by fellow passengers for outraging the modesty of a 48-year-old woman who was returning home after performing Vavu bali on the banks of Bharathapuzha.
