Kollam NCC Naval Unit emerges overall champions

The NCC, Naval Unit, Kollam Group,  emerged as overall champions for the fifth consecutive time in the NCC Directorate Kerala and Lakshadweep Inter-Group competitions, which concluded here on Sunday.

The NCC, Naval Unit, Kollam Group,  emerged as overall champions for the fifth consecutive time in the NCC Directorate Kerala and Lakshadweep Inter-Group competitions, which concluded here on Sunday.

A statement from the commanding officer of 3(Kerala) Naval NCC unit G Mehrotra said that the cadets from Kollam Group edged the cadets from Thiruvananthapuram, Changanassery, Ernakulam and Kozhikode in all events including whaler pulling, swimming, drill, firing, sailing, written and practical exams.

“They secured almost all individual and group trophies at stake,” the statement said.

The cadets selected from the competitions will represent Kerala and Lakshadweep Directorate in the forthcoming All-India Nau Sainik Camp 2012 at Visakhapatnam in November.

Brigadier G Subramanian, Deputy Director- General, Kerala and Lakshadweep Directorate, gave away the prizes to the winners during the concluding ceremony held at the Town Hall here.

Group Commander, Kollam, Colonel P Venugopal, Commander G Mehrotra, Chief Petty Officer V G Krishnan and Sub Lieutenant Noel Jose led the camp held at St Aloysius School.
