Ammonium nitrate seized

The police seized around 1,250 kg of ammonium nitrate, capable of causing huge explosions, in Mannuthi on Thursday.

Of the 1,250 kg of ammonium nitrate, 550 kg were seized from a Qualis van heading from Palakkad side to Malappuram in the wee hours of Thursday. The police have arrested three people - Mithun Koottambilly, 22, Siyad Pulikkan, 25 and Rajeesh, 24 - in connection with the case.  “When the highway police intercepted the vehicle and conducted the routine check-up, around 550 kg of ammonium nitrate kept at the rear side of the car, was found,” the police said.
