Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan on Thursday said the demand of K K Rema for a CBI probe into the murder of her husband and RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan was justifiable.
Such a probe is necessary to clear the names of the CPM leaders from the cloud of doubt over the murder, he told reporters here.
However, VS said that it was for the Chief Minister and Home Minister to decide on Rema’s demand.
CPM general secretary Prakash Karat and state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan had already stated that party leadership had no role in the murder, he said.
“If TP’s wife wants to conduct a CBI probe to expose the guilty in the murder of her husband, how can we find fault with her. Let the government take a decision,” he said.
Achuthanandan said that it was not fair to keep the CPM leadership under the dark shadow of doubt over the conspiracy behind the TP murder.
