Yuan Chen, of China, showed no signs of being in an alien land when she and Binumon, of Parathodu, tied the knot, at the Uthram Residency in Thodupuzha on Thursday, which is thousands of kilometres away from her country. She is a native of Zhengzhou, the capital and largest city of Henan province in north-central China.
Binumon first met Chen when he visited China in connection with a business trip of a Kochi-based medical equipment company. Chen works in the medical company with which Binu’s company had dealings. They got closer through the Internet, and finally decided to become life-partners. Their marriage was conducted according to Hindu rites. Owing to immigration problems, her relatives could not attend the wedding.
Yuan is the daughter of Kangshi Chen and Huming Hu. Binumon is the only son of late Rajappan and Shyamalakumari. Chen’s knowledge of English helped overcome communication barriers.
