Crime branch team visits Chala

The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) could be made an accused in the Chala gas tanker lorry disaster only after a scientific examination of the evidence, said B Sandhya, Crime Branch IG. A  team of higher officials led by Sandhya came to Chala on Saturday to get first hand information relating to the incident. The Hurt and Homicide Wing (HHW) of the Crime Branch at Kozhikode has already taken over the probe into the Chala disaster. She said that a police team led by Crime Branch DySP K V Santhosh will hold the investigation into the tragedy. The team talked to Rajagopal, one of the eyewitnesses of the Chala tragedy.

Meanwhile, the  team is planning to obtain the custody of Kannayyan, the driver of the ill-fated gas tanker lorry, for questioning.
