House surgeons plan stir

The house surgeons in the Government Medical College, Mulankunnathukavu, will begin an indefinite strike from Monday, demanding to set up a Mobile Unit in the hospital to collect blood samples of patients.

Since there is no Mobile unit in the hospital, the house surgeons are required to collect blood samples of patients in the hospital. Around 50 patients are admitted here every day and the house surgeons have to attend to all these patients.

“Besides attending to them, collecting blood sample is an additional burden on us. We have been demanding a mobile unit for long, but nothing has been done so far,” the house surgeons said.
