PM's itinerary finalised

To script a new chapter in the developmental history of the state, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will arrive here on Wednesday. He will launch ‘Emerging Kerala’, the state’s mega investment initiative, and lay the foundation stone for the much-awaited Kochi Metro Rail Project.

In view of the PM’s visit and the ‘Emerging Kerala’ investor meet, the state cabinet will meet here on Tuesday. There will also be special cabinets here on Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, the Prime Minister will inaugurate ‘Emerging Kerala’ at the Le Meridien Convention Centre. The PM, who will arrive at the Naval Airport INS Garuda at the Southern Naval Command at 11.25 am, will go to Meridien by road. After the inauguration, he will go to Hotel Taj Vivanta at Willingdon Island.

At 3.05 pm, he will leave for Thrissur, from the Naval Airport, to attend a function at the Kerala Kalamandalam. Coming back to Kochi at 5.25 pm, he will stay at Taj Vivanta.

On Thursday, Manmohan Singh will lay the foundation stone for the ambitious Kochi Metro Rail Project and inaugurate the golden jubilee of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists. From Taj Vivanta, the Prime Minister will leave for Marine Drive, where he will lay the foundation stone for the Metro rail project at 10.35 am. He will go to the Fine Arts Hall via Shanmukham Road, Park Avenue and Foreshore Road. At 10.55 he will inaugurate the golden jubilee celebrations of the KUWJ. The Prime Minister will return from the Naval Airport at 11.50 am.

The preparations and security arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit have been completed, said Collector P I Sheik Pareeth and Police Chief In-Charge Gopalakrishna Pillai.
