Antony comes in defence of development

Controversies and debates should not come in the way of development, said Defence Minister A K Antony.

Coming down heavily on various controversies surrounding the ‘Emerging Kerala’ meet he said that state’s economic development should not be affected by back-to-back controversies.

Speaking at the inauguration of ‘Emerging Kerala’, Antony said that reasonable and logical views of all those who are opposing the meet should be taken into consideration.

“Now there is an un-ending debate on all issues. Some times it is good, at other times it is harmful. Usually Kerala does not take a rigid stand on controversial issues,” he said.

The Defence Minister said that compared to many other states, Kerala is lagging behind in development. “The critics of the meet should not take a rigid stand that they will not cooperate with developmental initiatives until all their demands are met. No one should come in the way of development. Kerala need to change urgently,” he said.
