The Kerala High Court on Wednesday directed the Special Tehsildars of Travancore and the Cochin Devaswom Board to file a tabular statement which should contain the concise details of all land conservancy cases on October 8.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan and Justice A V Ramakrishna Pillai issued the directive while considering a report on encroachment into different parcels of lands under the Travancore and Cochin Devaswom Boards. The court also asked the state as to whether there could be a proper statute even by way of amendment to Travancore, Cochin Hindu Religious Institutions Act to facilitate the ombudsman to act as a court with sufficient authority to decide on all such disputes regarding land.
