The Centre will extend its full support to the monorail projects proposed by the state government. Announcing the decision here at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Kochi Metro Rail, Union Minister for Urban Development Kamal Nath said that the in-principle nod for the Kozhikode project has already been given.

Kamalnath asked the state government to entrust the work of the monorail projects with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

The 14-kilometre monorail project for Kozhikode at an estimated cost of `600 crore and `2,400 crore project for Thiruvananthapuram which covers 25 kilometre are the projects under the consideration of the Centre.
