Sabarimala closed after monthly poojas

The hill abode of Lord Ayyappa was closed on Friday evening, marking the conclusion of the five-day monthly poojas for the Malayalam month of Kanni.

Laksharchana, sahasrakalasam and kalabhabhishekam were the special rituals held at the temple on the concluding day.

The rituals were conducted during the uchcha pooja under the leadership of Thantri Kandararu Rajivaru and Melsanthi G Balamurali. Udayasthamana pooja, padi pooja and pushpabhishekam were the other poojas held at the temple.

The hill shrine will reopen on October 16 evening for the five-day monthly poojas for the Malayalam month of Thulam.

The new melsanthi for Sabarimala and Malikappuram Temple for a period of one year, from the first day of the Malayalam month of Vrichikam, will be selected on the basis of a lots draw at the sannidhanam on October 17.
