Middlemen rule the roost at Walayar check post: VS

Middlemen are ruling the roost again at the Walayar check post, where corruption  has become visible in dealings, Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan has said .

He was speaking after inaugurating a protest march organised by the CPM Pudussery area committee against corruption at the check post  on Saturday.

Achuthanandan said that the LDF Government had rooted out corruption from the check post by launching the corruption-free Walayar campaign. But,now the situation has changed and traffic congestion and delays have become common at the check post owing to corruption.

The march, in which around 1,000 people participated, began from the 16th mile and ended at the check post, where Achuthanandan addressed the protestors.

CITU district president A Prabhakaran presided over the meet. Among those who were present included CPM district secretary C K Rajendran and DYFI district secretary Subash Chandra Bose.

Developmental activities

Achuthanandan held discussions with officials and presidents of various panchayats at the PWD rest house to review the development activities being undertaken in the  Malampuzha constituency.
